A tap bolt is a fully threaded bolt with a hex head, designed to be used by either screwing into a pre-tapped (internally threaded) hole or by being used with a nut in a through-hole. Unlike a cap screw, a tap bolt features threads along its entire shaft, from just under the head to the tip. This full-length threading makes it suitable for fastening in thick materials or when a long reach is needed, providing a greater number of thread engagements than a standard partially-threaded bolt.
